Honouring the lives that shape our city, and moving forward with the resilience that makes Hong Kong home
These past few days have been heavy for everyone in Hong Kong. Like so many of you, we’ve been shaken by the tragedy in Tai Po — the lives lost, the families grieving, and the residents suddenly left without a home. We also want to acknowledge the firefighters, emergency medical teams and frontline staff who responded under immense pressure, as well as the volunteers and neighbours who stepped forward in the earliest hours to support those in need.
As a team, we paused our usual publishing to sit with the news, mourn with the city and give space to everyone affected.

Today, we’re easing back into our regular work, with care. Our city is still hurting, and we want to be mindful of that as we return to telling stories — the serious ones, the joyful ones, and everything in between — in a way that feels appropriate for this moment.
We know many people are looking for ways to help. We’ve put together a resource guide with verified updates from relief organisations, support services and community groups on the ground. If you’re able to support, even in a small way, we hope it’s useful.

Hong Kong is home to all of us — whether we live here, grew up here, and we carry it with us wherever we go. That sense of home doesn’t disappear, even in moments as hard as this. We’ll keep honouring the stories and the people — and the resilience — that make this city what it is. That resilience is our power and strength as we move forward together.
