As we celebrate the centennial of art deco’s golden age, California-based jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche reflects on how the movement’s revolutionary spirit continues to shape contemporary luxury design
A century has passed since the Jazz Age gifted the world art deco—that intoxicating blend of geometric precision and unbridled glamour that defined the Roaring Twenties. As we mark this milestone, the movement’s influence on contemporary luxury remains as potent as ever, particularly in the realm of fine jewellery, where its bold lines and sophisticated geometry continue to captivate discerning collectors.
Few designers understand this enduring appeal better than Jacquie Aiche, whose sculptural pieces bridge the gap between art deco’s revolutionary past and today’s luxury landscape. Known for her fearless approach to materials and her ability to
infuse ancient symbolism with contemporary edge, Aiche has built a following among celebrities and tastemakers who gravitate toward her distinctive aesthetic. Here, she shares her thoughts on art deco’s lasting legacy and how its pioneering spirit continues to inform her creative process.

Art deco emerged during the Roaring Twenties as a symbol of modernity, luxury and cultural transformation. From your perspective, what core qualities of this era continue to resonate in today’s art and design world, especially in jewellery?
When I think of art deco, I imagine an energy that’s both bold and elegant. It’s all about balance—and it makes for a spirit of timeless glamour that I personally love. You can feel that same energy in our Sophia collection—vintage-inspired gold and black rhodium come together in a way that carries both strength and softness.
The geometric motifs and ornamental complexity of art deco seem to have an almost magnetic appeal that transcends decades. What do you think gives these design elements such enduring power?
Geometry has a lasting power. In jewellery, it can create a beautiful, dynamic piece that feels both grounded and elevated. Our Pave Initial Geometric Signet Ring ties in lines and shapes that have a way of drawing you in. They’re eye- catching and enduring.
