For International Women’s Day 2025, we brought together some of Hong Kong’s most influential women, including the Front & Female Awards Hong Kong 2024 winners, to highlight the power of women supporting women

March is host to International Women’s and Women’s History Month, and to mark the occasions this year, some of Hong Kong’s most influential and impactful women united to celebrate the power and importance of women supporting women. This spirit of solidarity and progress shines through Tatler Asia’s Front & Female and the platform’s Front & Female Awards, which honour trailblazing women driving meaningful change.

We also asked members of the Front & Female Awards Hong Kong voting committee and past winners to write about the achievements of some of the recent 2024 awardees, while Angelina Kwan, chair of The Women’s Foundation, penned a powerful overview, highlighting the current status of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and what it means for Asia.

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) have reached a critical juncture after years of progress. Recent trends in the west, particularly in the US, indicate a rollback of essential diversity programmes within corporate boardrooms, university campuses and the US federal government.

DEI initiatives have fostered environments where individuals can express their ideas and perspectives, ensuring that women, men, minorities and underserved communities are treated fairly and have equal opportunities. However, these programmes are now being dismantled at an alarming pace and dissenting voices appear to be silenced.

Now is the moment for Asia to take the lead on DEI and gender equality; fittingly, the theme for the 2025 International Women’s Day is Accelerate Action. We must be the voice of reason and fairness amid this turbulent change. The Women’s Foundation has been at the forefront of promoting awareness and acceptance of DEI, corporate governance and gender equality in Hong Kong, and we are witnessing genuine progress. We must sustain this momentum.

The Tatler Asia Front and Female Awards serve as a beacon of empowerment for women, providing a platform to inspire the next generation of young women and girls to aspire to greater achievements that benefit both Hong Kong and the world. The 2024 awardees have implemented significant policy changes, from abolishing all-male boards to advancing women in corporate sectors, supporting vulnerable minority women and girls, and championing initiatives that drive their advancement.

These awards underscore the importance of women supporting women and fostering collaboration for a brighter future.
